Chapter 925 Meeting - January 2

Meeting called to order at 7: 00 PM by Bob McCray, Rich presiding

Honor Guard
- Veterans weekend, did 8 different events in 3 days. This year we only did 30 events…lot less funerals. Funeral coming up Saturday. February 4th at St. Michael’s is a service about the 4 Chaplains.

Chaplain -

Fundraising: Walmart needed a voided check to get us recognized as a legitimate non-profit.

Old Business:. Christmas - handed out 4 gift cards and 2 checks. Community Kitchen very appreciative.

New Business: Mike Holmes, former president, died in car accident in Tennessee
Easter Sunday is 2 days prior to our meeting. That meeting is cancelled. April is Election Month so we will do elections in March. State Council meeting in February. Leadership Conference coming up in August. It is Reno, NV. Region 3 just merged with Region 4.
Hector spoke about our chapter and how strong we are.

Chapter 925 Meeting - February 6

The Secretary was on COVID quarantine and did not attend the meeting. These are notes from President Rich Gregory

Our meeting lasted 30 minutes and covered the following:

Ron handed in a $150 donation from a funeral service the HG performed.
Doug Layman presented another check from his golf tournament for $100.

Ron discussed the 4 Chaplin service at St. Michael’s.

Informed the members that we will have five days of fundraising this year at Walmart and the signup sheet will be available at the March meeting.

The body voted to hold elections that night and the only new officers are Jamie Lleras as VP and MJ Hayes as 1st VP.

The gentleman named Mike, who had given out books about Vietnam before, was at the meeting and handed out an additional 10 books.

State meeting is February 19th in Columbia.

On a side note we had 24 members eat dinner and donated $70 for the tip.

Fundraising: May at the Walmart in Garden City

Old Business:. Rich spoke on getting a burial at Florence National Cemetery
Jaime spoke on how to get spouse buried with you in a National Cemetery.

New Business: Parade on May 25, Military Appreciation
$500 donation for our Cub Scout Troop 899
Looking to do trade school scholarship - Bob McCann. Rick Power will contact Dr. Maxey to see what school.
Ron Thornton - Pelican game, chapter invited
Rick spoke about a meeting sponsored by Russell Fry. If you are 100% disabled with VA, spouse is entitled to VA benefits. If you are 100%, wife can get insurance thru ChampVA.
Mike with the books brought a packet on Vettix.

Correspondence - Gold Star Mothers looking for donation.

Josh Carroll talked about the 22 suicides each day of veterans and the app that he is working on for veterans for free

Honor Guard
- 4 events since last meeting. 5 for this month. Pelican game - Saturday 5 PM- present colors, etc. May 17 funeral in Hillcreast, May 25 - parade, May 27 - Memorial Day in Conway, May 29 - MOAA golf outing. Black short sleeves until after Memorial Day

Chaplain - Terry Steer will have back surgery on Friday

Fundraising: May 24-25 at Garden City Walmart

Old Business:. Bob McCann is still working on scholarship. Waiting to hear back from National

New Business: Motion $500 to 22 to 0. Motion - Chapter pay for a luncheon for Honor Guard and volunteers once a year. Bob McCann will research it. No Vietnam Veteran at Market Commons…city is working on it.

Charles Davies report on Region 3 - PTSD - VA recognizes PTSD2 - spouse. Fluke worm - if vet has it, check the wife also. State Council will be October.

PACT ACT - Discussed high blood pressure and how they are giving approval but with no compensation.
